This Privacy Policy relates to Teaching Library, a website which shares teaching ideas and educational resources, linked to a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books for children, at www.teachinglibrary.co.uk.

The information that we collect and how we use it:

The Teaching Library site does not collect any personal information from visitors who visit the site, read the ideas or download resources. However, visitors may share their personal information by interacting with the site in other ways:

  • Email Submissions - We encourage teachers and other visitors to share recommended books, lesson ideas and educational resources with Teaching Library. Any contributions sent to Teaching Library via email will be saved and archived in a Google Mail account (see Google’s Privacy Policy). Contributors will receive email from us in relation to their submission but emails will not be sent for any other reason. Email will be saved in case we need to contact you about your submission again in the future. If your submission is used on Teaching Library, your name may be published alongside it, unless you tell us that you would not like this information to be published.
  • Online Submissions - Teachers, educators and other visitors can submit book suggestions, lesson ideas and teaching resources to the site using the Add a Book form. Any personal information and file uploads will be stored on the Teaching Library server (hosted by 1and1) and will be deleted once the submissions have been reviewed. Personal information / file uploads will also be automatically forwarded to our Google Mail account (see information relating to ‘Email Submissions’ above). If your book suggestion / ideas / resources are used on Teaching Library, your name will be published alongside them, unless you tell us that you would not like this information to be published.

The information that others collect:

Teaching Library uses a number of third party services to provide additional functionality to the site and its users. These services may use cookies. Find out more about cookies at All About Cookies. The third party services used on Teaching Library are:

  • Google Analytics - Teaching Library uses Google Analytics to track and monitor statistics about visitors to the site. You can read the Google Analytics Privacy Overview here. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, Google provide this browser add-on which you can install on your computers.
  • Advertisers - In order to provide free lesson ideas and resources, Teaching Library shows advertising, which is provided by:
  •    Google Adsense - Read Google’s Privacy information and opt out of targeted advertising here.
  •    Amazon.co.uk Store / Affiliate Links - Read Amazon.co.uk’s Privacy Notice here.
  • Disqus Comments - Teaching Library uses a service from Disqus to allow visitors to comment on lesson ideas and share their own ideas / opinions. Comments are moderated and may be deleted if inappropriate / unsuitable for use on the site. Read Disqus’ privacy policy here.
  • Social Media - Teaching Library uses a number of social networks to share ideas / information and to promote our resources. Each of these networks have their own privacy policies (i.e. TwitterFacebook and LinkedIn).
  • Embedded resources - A number of the resources on Teaching Library may be embedded, with permission, from other third party services. Each of these services have their own privacy policies (i.e. Google DocsYoutubeVimeo and Slideshare).

Links to other websites:

Teaching Library contains links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy policy. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
